Local vigilante members in Kaa community, situated in Khana local government area of Rivers State on Tuesday apprehended a young man (name withheld) in the process of stealing armoured cables from a transformer in the area.

A member of the vigilante group, who spoke to newsmen about the arrest, said the group was on routine patrol when they caught the culprit, who had already cut the steel wires of the neighborhood transformer.
The suspect was said to have confessed that he is from the Boue clan, in Khana, and was pushed to stealing as a result of hunger and joblessness. He claimed to have studied electrical electronics from the Ken-Saro Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, in Rivers State, but was unable to do his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) due to courses he carried over.
He reportedly alleged that a friend brought him into the business and since then he has been making good profits.
The Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), SP Bako Agbashim, when contacted, said the culprit had been brought to the station for further questioning and investigations.
